The New Testament

The New Testament is the record of Jesus Christ. Twenty-seven books, written by nine men over roughly fifty years, telling one story: God became a man, died on the Cross for the sins of the world, rose from the dead, and is coming again. Every book on this page points to Him.

The books fall into five groups. The four Gospels—Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John—tell the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ from four distinct perspectives. One book of history, Acts, picks up where the Gospels end and follows the spread of the Gospel from Jerusalem to the ends of the earth through men filled with the Holy Spirit.

Then come the letters. Paul wrote thirteen of them to churches and individuals, unfolding what the Cross accomplished—justification, sanctification, life in the Spirit—and how those who belong to Christ are to walk in that new life. The general letters, written by James, Peter, John, Jude, and the unnamed writer of Hebrews, strengthen believers facing trials, false teaching, and persecution, calling them to hold fast to the faith once delivered. One book of prophecy, Revelation, closes the Bible with the unveiling of Jesus Christ in glory—the King returning, evil judged, and all things made new.

This page walks through the New Testament one chapter at a time, from Matthew 1 to the final chapter of Revelation. Each book listed below has its own study page with an introduction to the book and links to every chapter that has been completed. New chapters are added as they are written.

Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. (John 5:39)

Start with Matthew. The story begins with the King.
