Most people don’t have a Bible problem.
They have a slowdown problem.
They read. They cover ground. They finish chapters and check boxes and follow plans. But the words don’t always stick. Life keeps moving, and the verse they read at 6:00 a.m. is already gone by 9:00.
That’s not a failure of discipline. It’s what happens when we treat scripture like a list to get through instead of a truth to sit with.
This site exists because of that difference.
One Verse at a Time
InChristNow.com is a collection of Bible verse commentaries — one verse per post, examined slowly and honestly.
No reading plans. No chapter summaries. No academic debates.
Just a single verse, opened up and looked at carefully, with real attention given to what it says and what it does to a person who actually believes it.
The verses here are chosen on purpose. They are identity verses — the kind of verses that reach past your theology and into how you think about yourself before God. Verses that, if you really believed them, would change how you wake up in the morning.
Those verses deserve more than a glance.
Why the Cross Is the Center
Every post here comes back to the same place: Christ and Him crucified.
Not self-improvement. Not religious effort. Not trying harder.
The Cross is where everything changes. It is where the old you ended and the new you began. Everything written on this site is built on that foundation. When a verse here talks about who you are, it means who you are in Him — not who you can become if you do better.
That is a different kind of good news. And it takes time to actually believe it.
Who This Is For
If you love your Bible but want to go slower and deeper — this is for you.
If you have read certain verses for years but still feel like you’re standing on the outside of them — this is for you.
If you want to sit with one verse long enough that you walk away carrying something real — this is for you.
This site is not for people who want more content. It is for people who want one thing that actually gets inside them.
A Note on Translation
Every verse quoted on this site is from the King James Version of the Bible. The language is older, but it is worth the small effort. There is a weight and precision to it that rewards slow reading — which is exactly what this site is built for.
About the Writer
I’m a believer who spent a long time being busy with scripture without being changed by it.
What turned that around wasn’t a new study method or a better reading plan. It was learning to stop. To stay. To ask what a verse actually means and what it would look like to believe it today.
I write a verse in a small spiral note book. Writing them is a great way for me to make myself slow down and think about each part and each word of a verse. Sometimes I write it once or twice and then “sit with it for a while”, or meditate on it.
Other times I write it many times a day for several days, until it’s drilled into my psyche and soul. I’ve found that once there deep inside, they are there by faith.
I’m not a seminary professor. I’m not writing for scholars. I’m writing for the person who opens their Bible in the morning and wants it to mean something before lunch.
If that’s you, you’re in the right place.
One verse. Examined carefully. Given time to settle.
